In 2014, a diverse group of philosophers, storytellers, scholars, and outsiders sought refuge within the walls of a university.
For four years, they toiled within the ivory towers, creating a rich tapestry of intellectual works.
Yet, amidst their scholarly pursuits, a yearning stirred within their hearts – a desire to break free from the confines of academia and manifest their ideas on a more local, tangible stage.
It was during the fateful year of 2019 that a member of the group stumbled upon a mysterious building, its grand oak door embellished with intricate iron adornments. Peering through the windows, they beheld a wondrous sight: a magical imaginarium that beckoned to their creative souls. Enveloped in a haze of enchantment, they envisioned a sanctuary where their imaginations could flourish.
As if drawn by unseen forces, they were graciously welcomed into the mystical abode, where the group, united in their quest for connection, found an unexpected benefactor in Folklore Hoxton, a vibrant live music venue nestled in the heart of Hoxton.
There, within the nurturing embrace of Folklore Hoxton, the group that had yearned to escape the confines of the university discovered a new realm of creativity and collaboration.
In the transformative year of 2019, they bid farewell to the ivory castle, embarking on a journey towards grassroots innovation and boundless imagination.
Among those drawn to the vibrant energy of Folklore Hoxton who joined the scholars shaping philosophy, activists advocating for change, and folklorists weaving tales of interconnectedness were artists and performers painting visions of unity.
Together, we saw the potential for something greater - a community united by a shared vision of connection and creativity.
As we gathered around makeshift tables and shared our dreams for the future, the idea for 3C began to take shape.
3C would be a movement to create a world underpinned by universal interconnectedness.
All weavers have one thing in common, a sensibility of interconnectedness which comes from their culture, worldview, religion or modality of practice.
Weavers can come from any background—as a scholar, spiritual practitioner, compassionate counsellor, planet guardian, equity activist, creative artist, performer, urban planner, architect, yoga practitioner, experimental writer, outsider poet, musician, road sweeper, big issue seller, drug dealer, sex worker or any other path.
The weavers have a diversity of intellectual knowledge and intuitive wisdom integrating contemplative, indigenous practices, spirituality, religions, science. art, music, performance and lived experience of trauma, abuse. racism and poverty.
The weavers interlace their mutual ontologies, epistemologies, axiologies and praxiologies of connection to co-design and co-curate our programmes.
Inspired by the belief that all beings are interconnected, we envisioned a framework for applying Cosmopraxis bridging the gap between individuals, society, and the planet. Through our collective efforts, we sought to create a holistic framework.
In 2020 we established Lemon Leopard in order to pilot the 3C framework. With the generous support of The National Lotteries flagship Emerging Futures Fund we not only set up the charity but were able to test and pilot many aspects of our 3C framework from a test site venue Folklore Hoxton.
The road to creating 3C was not without its challenges. In a world dominated by two-dimensional thinking, communicating our vision proved to be an uphill battle. But through the power of art and storytelling, we found a way to transcend barriers and inspire others to embrace our vision of interconnectedness.
Funding hurdles threatened to derail our progress, but with resilience and innovation, we forged ahead, building relationships based on trust and mutual respect. For us, funding was not just about numbers - it was about nurturing connections and fostering a sense of community.
In the early days it was just a handful of passionate individuals, united by a shared belief in the power of creativity to spark change. But as word spread and the community grew, so too did our impact.
Over the years, we have achieved remarkable success. From hosting over 400 events and workshops to building partnerships with local businesses and national charities, we have truly made our mark on the community.
Initiatives like pay-it-forward food, free rehearsal space, and creative workshops have brought people together in ways we never thought possible, fostering a culture of generosity and collaboration that continues to thrive to this day.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, our organisation is filled with stories of connection and transformation. From transformative workshops that challenge the status quo to collaborative performances that celebrate the diversity of human experience, each moment is a reminder of the power of community and creativity to change lives.
