Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement

At Lemon Leopard, we are committed to building a society where everyone has equitable access to opportunity, safety, housing, and wellbeing—regardless of their background or identity. As a Charitable Community Benefit Society rooted in the principles of social justice and collective care, we actively work to create inclusive, accessible spaces where difference is valued and diversity is celebrated.

We comply fully with the Equality Act 2010, which legally protects people from discrimination on the basis of the nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

Our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion means that:

  • We strive to remove structural and interpersonal barriers to participation within our housing, cultural, and wellness programmes.

  • We actively centre the voices and needs of those most marginalised by current systems—including (but not limited to) Black and global majority communities, disabled people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, migrants, and people with lived experience of housing insecurity or poverty.

  • We are committed to non-discrimination in our recruitment, membership, and service delivery practices.

  • We aim to reflect the communities we serve in our governance, leadership, and partnerships.

  • We continually review and adapt our policies, language, and spaces to ensure accessibility, safety, and fairness.

  • We take complaints related to discrimination, harassment, or exclusion seriously, and will act swiftly to investigate and resolve concerns in line with our grievance procedures.

Lemon Leopard recognises that EDI is an ongoing practice, not a checklist. We are committed to learning, unlearning, and evolving—guided by accountability, compassion, and the lived experiences of those we serve.
